Hi! I’m Rujim Paul. I’m 12 years old. I have autism. I am blessed. I am happy. Life is surely challenging for me most of the time but I am thankful to be surrounded with my loving family, friends and my community, the Church who shower me with so much love, support and understanding. They love me and accept me for who I am, I don’t have to pretend or try to be someone better and perfect. I am free! God loves me. He loves you too!

Kidzania 2016
Finally, the boys were able to experience Kidzania! We went there with no enough knowledge of what it was all about except that it's a huge "pretend play" theme park for kids. The night before, I saw bad reviews on facebook about the insanely long queue not just at entrance but in all activities and kiddy jobs. Uh oh.
Kuya has autism and although he can tolerate mild to moderate waiting time, I was not so sure about the "insanely long" kind of waiting time. So because Benjo already bought the tickets online and Miguel "couldn't stop grinning" it was too late to back out. That explains my hoping-for-the-best-expecting-the-worst-face in the photo.
Now imagine my face when I saw this! SHORT QUEUE!
The start of an amazing adventure! Look at those priceless smiles :)
They gave us these Radio Frequency Identification bracelets. Kids are only allowed to go out if their bracelets match with the bracelets of those who accompany them. Kuya's was a special (red) bracelet so that all the staff will know he has autism. Apparently all the staff are trained to handle children with special needs. How AWESOME!
Happy trip!!!

The first thing Miguel saw was the acting workshop.
But wanting to become an actor didn't last too long because now he wants to be a scientist.
We are fine with anything they want to be. Full support!

Even when they become delivery boys, as long as they are happy (and as cute as this when they work haaha). This was one of the activities I enjoyed much. It was so "real" until I looked at the "first salary" they gave me and I saw it was Kidzos and not in dollars or pesos lol.
At one point Miguel 's bracelet won't work Miguel was called to report to the immigration office due to his questionable identity. Good thing it was settled so he was able to continue making his dreams come true. Such as being a producer/anchor to his own documentary show at Discovery Channel.
Now he wants to be a crew at KFC.
But being a health researcher was too hard to resist. Especially if you come out with freebies!
Now here's the best part. The part where I got emotional.... this was when Kuya joined Miguel again to be a firefighter! Migs was always mindful of his brother, reminding him, giving him a nudge or instructions, making the experience so fun not just for him but for his brother too. Benjo and I were watching, speechless. At one point there was a woman who approached me, telling me how blessed I am to have both of them. We both got teary-eyed. Maybe also because we're both at our 40's, hormones make us cry always :D
Here we are, at the end of the day, so happy and full of new fun and cute memories. Maybe we just got lucky that even if it was a school holiday, it was not as crowded as described by many. And even if it was crowded there's still something we can get out of it. Like when we were queuing at the courier job, I told the boys its really like that when you are looking for a job. You need to sacrifice and work hard and wait.
So if you are a parent, contemplating of whether you give Kidzania a try, JUST GO. It's a wonderful experience your child should not miss.
To the staff of Kidzania especially those at the fire station, THANK YOU! Hats off to you for being so passionate in what you do and for giving our children an experience they won't forget!
Till our next adventure! :)

Thank You Mr. Lee Kuan Yew
This "Thank You" card I made using Sizzix fold-a-long thinlits dies by Jen Long is dedicated to the man who made Singapore happen. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, thank you Sir!
I am not a Singaporean but my heart is full of gratefulness to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and to Singapore. I know that my family and I are here in this beautiful city for a reason. A number of beautiful reasons. I even want to call it God's miracles. A clear manifestation that He is a father who loves and provides for His children.
Close 7 years ago, when my husband told me that he will be transferred by his company to Singapore was also the very same time when our oldest son, Rujim was being observed to have signs of autism. It was such a dark moment for us new parents because we knew nothing about the disorder neither did I know much about Singapore. But when I googled both words... HOPE filled my heart. Singapore happens to be one of the best places in the world for Autism Therapy. It has many big schools for autism. World's best programs are available here! And when we eventually came here everything exceeded my expectations. From the kindest social worker who walked us through the process of everything we needed to do for Kuya to the very loving teachers and therapists to the world class facilities and therapy equipments and tools. One of my favorite is that Kuya loves swimming and there is a big pool in his school which he enjoys every Monday. All these and a lot more privileges make our challenging life bearable and many a times, comfortable. And these make me wish that all the families with differently-abled kids around the world, most especially those from my own country, Philippines were able to enjoy the same benefits we are enjoying. This wish further led me to my current dream of putting up Kuya's Autism Therapy Centre Foundation in God's time. If God allows. I am very positive that it will happen one day and many kids and families will be helped.
I shared this with a knowledge that there are also very good, services in the Philippines but the sad fact is, it is only available to the very few who can afford it. In Singapore, the services are for all the residents.
That's just one of the many things I am grateful for being a PR in Singapore. Thank you God for planting us here. Thank you Mr. Lee Kuan Yew for what you have sacrificed to make Singapore what it is now!
This card is a fold-a-long card. It's really a fun card so and easy to make. You just need to have a Sizzix Bigshot machine and a few Sizzix dies and accessories needed which I will discuss in details later.
In the photo above, I started by die-cutting and folded the card base with Ticket Fold-a-Long card by Jen Long in white cardstock. Sizzix sandwich should be in this order: Sizzix magnetic Platform + Sizzix standard cutting pad +paper + thinlits dies facing down + cutting pad. Just run the sandwich through my Bigshot and I folded along creased line. I had my card base ready.
The next detail is super! It was my first time to try the Sizzix ink sheets and it's so cool. Imagine to use all your thinlits, framelits and triplits dies as stamps? That's really amazing and that's what I did to the front of my card. Let me show you how I did it in the photo below:
When using Sizzix Inksheets the sandwich is composed of (from bottom to top) magnetic platform + inksheets transfer pad + paper or chard you want to transfer the image to + Sizzix Inksheets + thinlits die + Sizzix Standard Cutting Pad. Run this sandwich to the Sizzix Bigshot machine and you'll see the magic!
There! It's already nice as it is but I just tried adding stickles for more texture. Look at the pretty glittery details!
Once the card cover was done, it's time to decorate the ticket found inside the card. So I die-cut a beautiful "Thank You" using the same thinlits die I used to "stamp" the image on the card front.
To cut this phrase, just follow the same process mentioned above when I die-cut the card base.
The card is done. The thank you ticket can be attached to the flaps at the center of the card.
And it looks like this!
Finally, I tied it with a baker's twine to secure. It's just a very simple and clean card. Pretty much describes to how Mr. Lee is as a person. I admire his being frugal, simple and humble. I hope and I pray that his life will continue to inspire not just Singaporeans but people around the world.
Again, THANK YOU Mr. Lee Kuan Yew! Thank you! Thank You so much!

Because I have a brother....
When Miguel saw this layout's title, he added: "I will love him always!" I hope and pray in my heart he will always stay true to that. Even on days when Kuya becomes too much for almost always being the one to decide which movie to watch, or which fast food to eat at. Miguel has always been very understanding of his brother who has autism. Loving. Supportive. Patient. And sometimes jealous I think. There was one time, he innocently blurted out "Sometimes I wish I was a special batchoy* too so I can go to Kuya's school and we become school mates." That's because he was jealous because Kuya gets to go swimming every Monday in school. Then a few minutes of heart to heart talk would lead him to a deeper understanding of how things are. It's amazing how at 6, he is able to grasp everything like a true hero.
God knows what He's doing. He takes care of everything. And having Miguel and Rujim as brothers is part of it. I can't help but smile and feel at peace. When the trumpet sounds and I'm outta here, they both have each other and they both have God :)
It's my turn for a quick inspiration post now at Sizzix. Go and have a look! :)
*special batchoy - his endearment for Kuya because he has special likes and preferences, behaviours, etc

Do more of what makes you HAPPY
Like making quick and easy cards!
This card was super easy to make. Really. The only most difficult part of it was tying the ribbon. I swear!
How is that possible? Only when you have Sizzix Bigshot and the Triplits dies, which are currently my most favourite things in the world.
If you are a simple gal like me, you would be happy even with just two colors.. and one of them should be white :)
And then with a little help from Mr. Foam Dots, layer shapes any way you want :)
Making a card base as cool as this is as easy if you have Movers and Shapers XL Card Die because you just need to cut and fold, because the card will already be scored for you. Add a little gold background paper if you like!
Punch a lace border for a textured background.
Arrange and layer the flowers!
Stamp a sentiment, tie a bow and add some dewdrops. Done! You can see more awesome Sizzix projects and tutorials HERE.
Do you want to make this card + 4 more different ones yourself? Sign up for my class at Made With Love this July! :)
And here's another card I made using Sizzix Triplits among others. This will be one of the projects to be done in the coming Made With Love Bigshot Party...
Speaking of party. I just love the fact that lately, dear hubby and I have started to spend time with friends again. We both love entertaining at home. Since we got married, weekend get-togethers with friends at home were a must. It only stopped when Rujim was diagnosed with Autism. I never ever thought we could ever party again. I thought we would be forever on our own. Taking care of him.
Fast forward 8 years later... Rujim is now okay. Not so sociable that he would also want to party with us. But he is okay. As long as I tell him "we have visitors". The other day I told him, "Kuya say hi to our visitor" he replied "Hi visitor!" haha!
We are living a happy life. Different but not less.
We are able to do things that make us happy. Simple things.
Like bonding with friends who have the same interests with us.
We are blessed.
