Baby Shower Card

Believe it or not, I can't draw to save my life. In fact, I'm the only one in my family who can't draw.  And I want to believe God led me to Sizzix because,  well, I don't really need to :) Here's proof!

I made a baby shower  card using my Sizzix Bigshot Machine and the latest Sizzix Dies by Stephanie Barnard.

This 3D  card is actually a "happy birthday" card but I cut off the word "birth" and changed it into a onesies. This now becomes a "welcome baby" gift!

I used the two dies Sizzix Triplits Die Set 14PK - Oh, Baby  and Sizzix Framelits Die Set 19PK - Card, Happy Birthday Step-Ups to cut all the shapes I wanted in white cardstock. When cutting framelits or triplits dies, the Sizzix sandwich should be in this order: Magnetic Platform +  Standard Cutting Pad +paper + thinlits dies facing down + Standard Cutting Pad. Just run the sandwich through the machine and you will have your die-cuts in seconds!

I played around with the water colors and let all the die-cuts  dry.

Once the die-cuts are dry, It was time to adhere the pieces together to the card using foam dots for dimension. Then I added  some stickles here and there!

Lastly, stamp a card sentiment and you're done! Easy as 1 2 3! Here's the final look once again...

Thank you Sizzix for giving me the chance to be an artist even though I don't know how to draw :)

Supplies:

Sizzix Triplits Die Set 14PK - Oh, Baby

Standard Cutting Pad
white cardstock
water colors
adhesives

stickles

Handmade Love.

This is something money can't buy. The joy of seeing someone you love smile while ripping off the envelope and smile some more while reading the sentiments you wrote in the card.

For most people including me, the card doesn't need to be so dramatic. It can be simple.

It has to be pretty.

Straight to the point.

Cute.

Sweet. So sweet ants want it too! =)

See more of these cards I made at Thoughtful Crafts. I only made a dozen so hurry!
 Happy Valentine =)

Making Spirits Bright Card | Sizzix

It's Christmas very soon! Yay! I made this Christmas card using  this Sizzix Snowflakes #3 die.

I wanted to design a simple card so I can mass produce it for my gift giving. What better way to do that than the Sizzix way!

I cut a gold cardstock as shown in the photo above. A die and a glitter gardstock on top, to be sandwiched with the cutting pads.

This is how the gold snoflakes look like. Beautiful isn't it? :)

For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed with white embossing powder on a kraft paper.

I added am embossed background using Dots #6 embossing folder, inked the edges with Old Paper distress ink and added rhinestones and a button.

 Quick and very easy!

Supplies:
Sizzix Bigshot
Sizzix Snowflakes #3 die
Sizzix Dots #6 embossing folder
cardstock - American Crafts
rhinestones - Prima
ink - Distress Ink, Ranger
embossing powder - American Crafts

HUGS

I just turned 39 yesterday and although it's a new day now,  I still feel the birthday vibe and these cards I made for Robin's Nest speak volumes of how I want to do right this moment..  I want to give everyone  some BIG BIG HUGS! *A special warm hug for my youngest sis who needs it very much right now*

Check out my DT post today at Robin's Nest blog where I shared how I came up with these minimalist greeting cards.

And here's sharing with you a peek at my unplanned but super duper happy birthday yesterday ...

Balloons were my boys' surprise for me... puddings in cups were brought by a friend, Mona who came over to greet me (true friends come even if you don't invite them! haha! Luv u Mon! I'm really touched and I'm very grateful for our friendship!), cake was not part of the plan but Miguel never stopped asking me to make one, so.

I wished for nothing. Well not really nothing. I just wanted a carefree day with my boys in clean and good smelling house,  Skype with family, a peaceful heart and deeper faith. I got it all and more! Wait. Our house wasn't that clean lol! A house will never be that squeaky clean when you have two growing rascals I guess.

Highlights of my day (and the days before too!) for memory keeping...
  • delicious homemade chorizo breakfast
  • Skype with in-laws
  • Skype with parents
  • chats with siblings
  • nephew Abe's drawing for me
  • my boys' surprise balloons and birthday poster complete with "lights off" effects haha! Thanks Mae!
  • hubby dear's prank (in fairness! i like it BB hehehe)
  • Sister's honoring (sniff. gotta read it when I feel so useless and down)
  • Father's testimony (surprised... a lot of revelations on how he felt when I was a growing young adult hehehe)
  • JJ's surprise gift :)
  • keeping in touch with friends I have missed a lot
  • a time spent with a great friend Mona (and Leila too!) thanks for bringing the yummy cuppies and the candles!
  • bike trip with kids, planned by Miguel, that was cut short due to thunder and lightning LOL!
  • rosary with BB
Thank you my Father in Heaven for my life.  Thank you Papang and Mamang. My family, friends and community. It was one of my best birthdays ever. And because I believe that everyday should be treated as birthday, with His grace, I intend to make each of my days  just like that. Stress-free, less complicated, but with meaning. Is it possible? It depends if I keep myself guarded with the temptations and chaos of this world. It's a daily battle that I can only win with Him by my side :)

mood board | Robin's Nest sneaks

Singapore is haze-free! But while I am happy, mostly dancing with joy because we can open our windows now, I am also praying for the people in Malaysia. I heard the haze decided to go visit them. Sigh.

Okay. It's my turn to post at Robin's Nest today and I shared about how I made five greeting cards using a mood board which I created from my Pinterest cards pin board. Go check out the details HERE! :)

Are you Pinterest-ing? If so, let's follow each other go check out my boards. See yah!

workspace wednesday: vellum envelope

Enjoying the last two weeks of my kids' school holidays.  When I don't have to rush everything. Although having them at home the whole time means they can disturb me anytime! haha!

This father's day card measures 5.5 x 5.5" and it's way bigger than the envelopes  have at the moment (and I feel lazy to make one) so I made an alternative using vellum and twine from Timeless Twine.   What do you think? :)

ThoughtfulCrafts Tuesdays: Father's Day Cards

The moment I got hold Heidi Swapp's No Limits paper collection, I already knew I'd use it for Father's Day. I love how masculine and cool the prints are. So the day for me to use it has come.

These cards for ThoughtfulCrafts are super easy to make. Just cut papers, paste, stitch, stamp, splatter with paint, add washi, staple, add button. But while doing all these, make sure to JUST. HAVE. FUN.

Now pick up a pen and write some lovin' thoughts for Dad!

Inspired by Let's Get Trendy Now 3. Check out the blog for more detailed tips on how you can incorporate stitching on your projects. I myself learned lots of tricks!

{Mother's Day} suggestions + GIVEAWAY!

Hey everyone out there --- don't ever forget 12 May is mothers day. Do something sweet for Mom if you don't want that dreaded "silent treatment" lol.

Seriously, our Moms deserve the best from us everyday of our life but I'm sure she will appreciate even the little things. Like a phone call or an SMS. Or better yet spend time with her over dinner at home. I know it's not possible for all of us. Like my mother is miles away from me so I will just Skype of Facebook chat with her and maybe send her some cash for shopping (that one is a sure win haha!) to make up for the fact that I can't spend time with her in person.

In the case of my friend Grace, whose mom is already in the better place, she wrote a memoir --- a book Lovingly Yours Mom. I have read it and I couldn't put it down - finished reading it in two days. It made me resolve to spend time with my loved ones, so that when the trumpet sounds, I am at prepared, at peace, really ready knowing I haven't wasted my time on the things (of this world) which really won't matter in the end!

Here's more about the book and Grace...

You can purchase the book online as an e-book. It is also available in paperback. Really perfect as mother's day gift! See all the details HERE.

Now for the AWESOME part... you will get the chance to have this book for FREE! Grace gave me a paperback copy of her book for my followers (and two more for my Instagram and ThoughtfulCrafts followers!Yay!) Here's all you have to do...

Made these cuties using Simple Stories

simple but not empty

That's how I describe by life these days. Simple. So near to Him.
  • Home most of the time. Enjoying the house that is at times messy but on good days, so neat and clean. I just love a clean and a good smelling house filled with simple stuff, most of them white.
  • Playing with the boys, mostly tickling and laughing out loud.
  • Able to play with my guitar more. I am currently learning "How Lovely are Your Dwelling Places" one of my favourite songs  in the community =)
  • Watching movies with my love over a cheap red wine.
  • Spending quiet time with myself and my crafts. Making thoughtful gifts and cards such as these...

... a gift box for Kuya's Case Manager/Social Worker in school.

... a simple birthday card for an officemate's friend.

grateful

Dear Lizzy's latest Neapolitan line spells F-U-N! Creating a page and some cards with it is so easy and stress free... It's water color themed designs are so refreshing! And have you seen the stamps? Love!

See more cards and crafts HERE.

The layout tells of how grateful I am to God for this life I have. Far from perfect. Lots of struggles and difficulties but with no doubt a very meaningful and happy life.... A loving and supportive husband, 2 adorable kids, one quirky and silent the other one so bubbly and talks and does his things nonstop. I also want to make mention my cousin, my helper who's been with us since my oldest son was 4 months old. So thankful for a great and trustworthy help wo loves my kids. Makes me feel at peace when I'm away for work =)

Work! It's also something I am grateful for. A regular 4 hour/day work is just perfect for me. Doing the things I love while still having an ample time to be with my kids in the morning. I always look forward to my busy mornings preparing them for school, doing my crafts, exercise and I get to dress up everyday. Train rides allow me to think deeper, pray more and tinker with my phone guilt-free haha!

I believe if I had to tell you all, I may never want to stop. I just feel SO BLESSED and my prayer today is that God will always give me the grace to REMEMBER this feeling, this TRUTH. That I am blessed, that He LOVES me.  Eventhough many times I hurt him with how I easily judge others, how terribly selfish I am in my decisions, priorities and actions... how I miserably fail to be consistent in my prayertime... still He loves me. Where can you find a God as loving as that?

May we all have a spirit-filled Lenten Season!

Supplies:
papers, stamps (American Crafts, Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection)
