Jimmy Badilla

He is fun-loving. Playful. Childlike. He loves sweets. Very thoughtful especially during our birthdays. We didn't have all the luxury in the world growing up. We may even have lacked on many things but I always thought we were just fine. There were bad days, like when he would scold and spank (this one's really scary!) but in good days, especially special days, he would think of ways to surprise us from making a funny card or inventing a fun game to make our birthdays memorable. I always couldn't sleep the night before my birthday because I'd be extremely excited. And it's always different each year! I remember waking up to a treasure hunt with lots of pink notes and directions leading to a "treasure" I still have those pink notes until now.

How else could I best portray that side of him than by creating this playful, sweet collage card! The photo of him eating sweets right outside Candylicious is just perfect!

Thank you for being just the way you are. You have molded the five of us in ways you may never have known.. Know that I will never choose any other father if given  a choice. My prayer is for you to always be happy and at peace and contented living your simple and humble life with Mamang. And here's from your apos...

Happy Birthday Jimmy Badilla! Love and prayers and hugs and kisses from all of us :)

mother's day rant

If not for the fact that for some reason I haven't talked to my mother today (and it makes me very disappointed) this day would have been so good.

My boys (with Mae's help) made me a "giant card" as they call it. Last night  when hubby and I got home from the grocery and they fetched and helped us with the bags, Migs said: "when we get inside the house, you will close your eyes, and we will shout SURPRISE! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!" and when we got inside, he did and I pretended to really be so surprised. hahahah. So I enjoyed mother's day a few hours in advance...

I'm sharing this precious artwork with my mother, MIL, sister and SIL. All the mommies in the clan are thought of! Some close-ups...

Mae earned 1000 ganda points here.  She even documented the process and sent these precious behind-the-scenes photos to me!

By the way, have your heard about the recent put-an-end-to-boring-photos campaign in Facebook? Here's my share...

Hahaha! EPIC mother's day lunch scene. The hair. The faces. We were rushing for the Block Rosary so we never had the chance to take a better one. Thanks Mae for this jinga-juice-drinking-contest photo BWAHAHAHA!

We can make everyday a mother's day so I will stop feeling sorry why my mother  never went online and didn't have a minute to pick up her phone today. I will stop complaining that in this special day in her honor she is extremely busy in the shoppe because people are getting married. If God allows, we will all still be here tomorrow and the next day.. and the next... and I can show her how much I am grateful to her for being my mother.

I will say goodnight now by leaving you this song we sang with the POSAP Rosary Crusade earlier today. Loved it so much (and helped me divert my useless emotions to good ones) so I googled the chords and sang. Husband dear didn't know I was recording it. Take a glimpse of our unguarded moments :D

Happy mother's day to all of us mommies and to all our moms! I will be back tomorrow to announce the winner of this giveaway. Ciao.

everyday is...

Mothers Day!

Now that's a good excuse for me not having to finish these altered frames in time for mothers day. Another follow up excuse is because my son got sick and I got sick. And life got in the way. It would have been perfect if I made it earlier, and posted it on time. But I didn't. That got me a little frustrated.

But I know our moms don't care that much. They love us no matter what. They are patient of our shortcomings. They are happy with anything we give. Anytime. And even if we don't and we can't.  They are the President of our Fans Club. They are the bestest of our friends.

With that, our moms deserve a mothers day treatment. Everyday.

So it doesn't matter if these frames are late. Today is mothers day! Happy Mothers Day Mamang and Mommy. We love you both so much :)

Mommyla

Here's a layout for an extra special person... my mom-in-law. The lovely, loving, lovable mommy/mommyla of ours. She's the best. I am very proud to tell the world that I am very blessed to have her as my mom. She's very kind to me. Very respectful of my being a wife to her only son, very supportive of my being a mom to her grand kids.  She treats me like her own daughter...  I love her so much.

She's a cool mom to all her children, including me :) She listens. She understands. She gives. She is simple, conventional and even naive. Never complicated. It's not difficult to please her. She cooks very well. Especially her kare2 (which I have learned to copy! yes!). She is fashionable.More stylish than me. She even sometimes asks me to let go of my tank tops, shirts and flip flops and should wear heels and dresses more often. hahaha! But then again, she never pushes me. She knows how to respect my style :) And I love her more for that....

I used this very special paper from Websters that I have been keeping for  a long time already. I finally found a perfect time and person to use it for... Mommy's birthday... and the 4 different sizzix dies (the 3D roses, the stamp frames, the loops, and the vine) helped me put this page together :)

I wanna thank Marix for this birdcage stamp :)

Added glimmer mists, stickles and some blings ...

... and I love the effect of  Tim Holtz' crackle paint on the frames!!!

There you go... I hope Mommy likes this :)

Negros Walk!

"Negros Walk is a walk for health. This is a historic 661-kilometer walk around Negros on foot to be initiated by  Jimmy A. Badilla, a 60-year-old granddad who believes that good health can be achieved through walking."

Jimmy Badilla (in the above photo, with my mother Flor Badilla) is my father :)  Today is his birthday and it is his birthday wish to stop smoking and live a healthy life. Thus, the Negros Walk. Initially I and all my other siblings were in doubt of this but we eventually supported him seeing this makes him happy. And since I'm a million miles away from them, the least I could do is to "walk" with them via my cross trainer! An hour each day till this cause culminates. Today is my second day :) Loving it! Please help us pray for my parents as they walk for their health. Thanks heaps!

Happy Birthday Papang! We love you very much!

You may send some love and encouragement by visiting Negros Walk in Facebook It will surely inspire my father! Thank you!

a million times and two?

I did it again. I promised in my last post that I'll share about our previous weekend ... and then I got lazy to blog.... Soweeee haaa! *Miguel's accent* and now I wanna share about something else...FATHERS DAY! :)

The title says a million times and two. I don't think that's enough thank you's to God for these two fathers I want to honor today...

I thank God for His great love for me, for making me a daughter to my Papang. A father any daughter would wish to have. Wise, thoughtful, very talented and intelligent, super positive, happy, so trusting and supportive of his children, and always faithful to God. I'm forever proud he is my father. I believe all my other four siblings will agree with me! I love you Pang! :)

I thank God for His great love for me, for giving me a hubby --- Rujim and Miguel's father! His love for them is bigger than his love for anything else, even himself. He loves them next to God. (Well he keeps on saying he loves them third. God first, then me, them kids. But I doubt hahaha!). He'd give up anything for them. He'd die for them. I have witnessed that his being a dad to or children brings out the best in him. In his career, in his relationship with me, most especially with God. I just honor him for being a great Dad!

I thank God for His great love for me. For being my heavenly Father --- whose love is sufficient for me and is way too much greater than the love of our earthly fathers. Bless You Lord! For making me his daughter. For giving me the grace to be a strong, joyful even in times of suffering. For always being there. For making me happy in simple things. For so many other reasons! I can never thank Him enough.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Papang, BB, my brother Jong, Papawens, and all the dads in the world! :)

cake for lolamamang!

For Lolamamang's birthday, I made a half recipe of my orange chiffon cake with butter cream icing! Too bad BB was at work so pardon me for the not-so-fab photos. I used my cam and I think I didn't adjust the settings too well (was in a hurry yesterday for Word Celebration). But anyways, we had fun (and extra calories) with the cake. I finished 2 slices and felt guilty after hehehe.

Here's your cake Mader dear! I hope you had a blast yesterday.... wish we were there to celebrate with you. We miss you all!

when you thought i wasn't looking

Happy Birthday Mamang! I love you very much! Thank you
for everything that you have done for us!
I'm dedicating to you my favorite poem...

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING
(author unknown)

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking."

miguel's first dip

When we were invited by Kuya Ed (a singaporean friend we met in Neo Cat who loves Filipinos and the Philippines, instant bespren ni Papang) to Chevron's where he is a member, I grabbed the chance to let Miguel dip in the pool, HIS VERY FIRST! He super loved it! And Kuya met new friends who let him share the turtle... He kept on saying TURTLE! TURTLE! TURTLE! and did hi-five to one kid =) The place is super cool and so kid-friendly. It even has a KIdz Corner where Kuya and Baby Migs played while we sang our heart out at the Videoke lounge. For dinner, We all shared the chicken pork adobo (request ni Kuya Ed) and lastly, my most favorite... the massaging chair! kalami ba uy! thank u so much Kuya Ed! Sorry we couldn't stay longer kay sleepy na ang bugoys and work pa the following day :) sa uulitin!
