thrifty thursday: old chair, new chair!

There's one pretty red chair outside our flat that has been collecting dust. I didn't use it coz it looked dirty and so worn out. Until I chanced upon a "retaso" red cloth from Spotlight.

Thrifty Thursday:Joint Celebrations!

One of the coolest things I have ever done with the Gmoms (Gorgeous! That's how we call our selves. We are the wives of our husbands who work/used to work in Fairchild) is to hold joint parties like the "Colors and Dots", the "Stripe-it-up", the "valentine" just recently the "11-in-1"! It has been a tradition to celebrate birthdays together, thus, saving money while having fun! We all help each other with the details (I love this part so much!) and each family brings one or two dishes making our parties a feast! The highlight of each party is the "tapaw"! That's when we bring home plenty of left over meals :)

Thrifty Thursday: make-your-own accessories

... and sell them! Yes I am selling these beautiful hair ornaments that are so in fashion now. And I can't wait to deliver my first batch to Woodlands Mart. I met a lovely lady there who has a fashion stall. This might just be one of my baby steps towards achieving a long time dream of having a scrapbooking/craft gift shop!

Thrifty Thursday: Family Picture

A new found friend in the name of Margaret have been asking me for our family portrait. And I'm also thinking to make a few Christmas cards for friends and family. I was almost tempted to give studio photo taking a try :) but the present global crisis always reminds me to try to always look for cheaper alternatives... Thus, our photo shoot ... here at home!

We all dressed in our old but nice green and red outfits. The kids seemed to feel excited. Well, they always do every time they get dressed, thinking we're going somewhere hehehe. We eventually went to Causeway mall right after, so as not to disappoint them and to give them a treat for being so cute in the pictures.

Thanks and kudos to my handsome hobbyist hubby who took charge of the pictorial which turned out nice... don't you think? hehehe :)

Hubby and I love parties! Present crisis cannot get in the way of our wanting to spend time with friends. We can still have fun even with the fact that money gets a little tight these days. How? Instead of going to clubs or restaurants, we do home bondings! We have been having a lot of that these days :)Here's one of the hubby's bondings with his flickr buddies...

And they do it in 10 minutes. Huh!

Thrifty Thursday: Baby Food

Thanks to google and bloghopping I saw this idea for my Miguel. So here, for Thrifty Thursday, I'm sharing with you my own version. Thanks Papercakes! :)

Just....

1. peel
2. slice
3. steam
4. blend (add water and a little salt)
   
5. freeze (in ice cube tray)
6. store in Ziploc bag (or pede man bisan ano plastic ah!)
   
7. thaw (4 to 5 cubes/meal)
   
8. serve!
